's' house
2007 RAIA Commendation
(Brisbane Region)
The S House is a front extension to a 1980's rendered masonry
residence, providing a new facade externally and internally independant
living space for young adults. Central to the idea is the entry / stair
device which is filled with natural light and with opportunities to
rest and observe. It acts as both a hinge to the connecting armitures
that maintain the family community and as a significant marker in the
street elevation, referencing nearby older symbols of establishment
such as elaborate gabled and gated frontages.
